At this point, having already come up with the story for my short horror film, as evident by the script uploaded previously, I instead decided to go in an alternate direction for my movie. While I remained with the premise of a horror film, I have now chosen to drastically alter the story itself.
My new idea is much more reminiscent of older horror movies, such as Night of the Living Dead (in presentation as opposed to antagonists). What I mean by this is the concept of my film replicating the rather (by today’s standards at least) cheesy atmosphere that a lot of classic horror films now have. This means sacrificing the former “fiction coming to reality” plot, which very well may be a mistake on my part as I do think that it is quite a good concept, however I also think that due to my relative success with my music video which imitated classic western movies, another attempt at doing this in a different genre may yield similar results.
However, I would be lying if I said that this was my only motive for completely changing the premise of my short film as I soon discovered that I would be unable to bring the typewriter with me when I went on holiday to Spain (which was my initial intention) and as such would either have to record once I was back (with much less time to do so) or change the primary aspect of the film’s story in order to be able to film something whilst being in Spain, and as such have more time to edit once I was back home. Ultimately, this was a sacrifice that I decided to make, for better or for worse.
